what is up with places that swear up and down that something is vegan, and then it ends up not being vegan?
Today I went for lunch with a friend of mine, and we ended up at the taste of India (or is it the new taste of india?) down on 5th and washington.
I remembered hearing a rumor a long time ago that they wern't REALLY vegan, but I hadn't ever had real problems with them, so I decided to go for it. Before ordering, I talked to the people about whether or not it was vegan, and they absolutly assured me that it was. I told him that it was really important because I'm really allergic to dairy products.
So anyway, I got it, and my friend and I went off and had our lunch.
Before I even finished my food, I started to feel ill. And I barely made it to the bathroom at Powells before having a rather unpleasant parting with the meal.
My belly hurts in the way that it only hurts when I've been fed something that isn't vegan (specifically dairy or lard)
Their vegan food isn't really vegan.
I will never, ever, ever eat there again.

(the green was saag paneer without the paneer)
Since I've become vegan, I've developed a much stronger stomach/bowel and can usually tell whats going on down in there.
there is a pretty distinct pain that I get when I eat dairy. and it is similar to what happens when I get something with lard in it, only more painful. And the fact that within a few minutes of finishing my food, it is ready to come out of me. Usually in liquid form.
The being allergic to dairy is actually the biggest reason why I went vegan in the first place.
soooo yeah. that is how I know.
most places do care more when you say you're allergic. I assume that this place just doesn't understand.

it was dairy of some sort. and that is why I got so sick (because I'm really allergic to dairy, which is why I became vegan in the first place)
